Prix de Fashion Derby Day - Auckland Cup Week 1st March 2014

New Zealand's Fashions in the Field final and Ellerslie's most hotly-contested racewear competition, Prix de Fashion is the ultimate showcase of raceday fashion!



The most prestigious racing fashion event, Prix de Fashion is the national Fashions in the Field final with winners from the regional Fashions in the Field events around the country compete for the ultimate title in Raceday fashion.


This competition showcases the crème de la crème of Raceday fashion in New Zealand where on the day contestants join pre-qualified Regional Finalists from fashion competitions here at Ellerslie and around the country.


The winner takes all prize package in excess of $30,000 includes entry into the MYER Fashions on the Field competition held during the 2014 Melbourne Cup Carnival.

How to enter:


How it works:

  • There are no categories and men compete against women
  • Entrants take to the runway where approximately five competitors will be selected by the judging panel as wildcards to go through to the Regional Final
  • The Regional Final consists of racegoers who have won at competitions around the country and also at Ellerslie. These regional finalists are joined by the wild cards who made it through in the previous round
  • From this regional final, five grand finalists are selected - one of which will be named as the Prix de Fashion winner for 2014!


Judging panel:

The judging panel for 2014 is made up of Tracey Dalton who is the Head of Styling and Make up for TV3 who has been involved in the Fashion, Hair and Makeup industry for the past 30 years and Chloe Moo who recently won the 2013 MYER Fashions on the Field competition.


Prize Package:

  • Two bespoke Natalie Chan millinery pieces to the vaue of $5,000
  • $4,500 worth of Westfield Gift Cards and a Westfield Personal Styling Session to the value of $500
  • $4,300 worth of Schwarzkopf Professional hair care products and $700 worth of salon colour services
  • A trip to the Melbourne Cup Carnival including four nights accommodation at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, two tickets to Emirates Melbourne Cup Day and two tickets to Crown Oaks Day with hospitality in the MYER Fashions on the Field  enclosure on both days. The prize will also include transfers to and from the racecourse

Competition details

Throughout the year, Myer Fashions on the Field State Finals (Women's Racewear only) are held across the country. The winners from these competitions compete at Myer Fashions on the Field Women's Racewear Competition on Crown Oaks Day at Flemington.

The Victorian winner will be chosen from the daily winners of each of the competitions at Flemington held on AAMI Victoria Derby DayEmirates Melbourne Cup Day and Crown Oaks Day.

On Crown Oaks Day, the three winners will then compete to determine who the Myer Fashions on the Field Victorian State Winner.

Victorian heats are held throughout the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington Racecourse.

The Victorian competition consists of a Daily Final on AAMI Victoria Derby Day, Emirates Melbourne Cup Day and Crown Oaks Day. Each daily winner competed in the Victorian Final on Crown Oaks Day.

The winner will then advance into the National Final and compete against the other State Finalists and People's Choice winner for the coveted national title.

All State Final Winners then compete to become Myer Fashions on the Field Women's Racewear National Winner.

The search is on for autumn’s best dressed racegoer with the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) launching the Flemington Autumn Racewear Competition.

The Instagram competition invites followers of @flemingtonVRC to post their finest autumn racewear ensemble (full length image) – along with the hashtag #MyerBGFL – for the chance to claim some great prizes including:

  • Accommodation for two people at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins for one night (Tuesday 4 March 2014)
  • Two tickets to enjoy the 2014 Myer Beautiful Girls Fashion Lunch, including transfers to and from Flemington (Wednesday 5 March)

The competition launches ahead of the Melbourne Festival of Racing, which features three stylish Group 1 racedays and the always anticipated Myer Beautiful Girls Fashion Lunch at Flemington.

An elite panel of Australia’s most prominent fashion designers and milliners from Myer, media and fashion identities, including Myer Ambassador Kate Peck, will judge the competition, with entries open from Thursday 23 January until 9.00am on Tuesday 25 February.

An Instagrammer’s Choice award, along with a $250 Myer gift card, will go to the entrant whose post garners the most ‘likes’.

Contestants will be judged on their style and originality, appropriateness of their outfit for the autumn’s Melbourne Festival of Racing and the individual, attention to detail with accessories, understanding and interpretation of the current fashion trends, grooming and deportment and creativity using the Instagram application.

The winners will be announced on Friday 28 February.

Fashions on the Field Blue Diamond 2014



Summer is here, so pull out your best summer racing attire to impress our judges for your chance to share in over $50,000 in prizes.

Categories include 13-17 years, 18 years & over and the Fashion Duo’s category. Entrants in the Fashion Duo’s can be either two males, two females or one male and one female. Entrants across all categories will receive a gift bag just for entering.

Judging this years’ competition will be a panel of fashion, media and celebrities. Heats will commence after 1.00pm on the Fashion Stage near the Main Gate.

To register and ensure your place in one of the heats, simply read through the terms and conditions and return the registration form via the below link by 12pm Friday, 21st February 2014.  Registration will also be available on the day from 11.00am-1.00pm. The registration desk will be located near the main gate, Gate 23, at Caulfield racecourse. Once the heats are full, registration will close so get in quick and make sure you register to secure your entry.
