The inner edge of your brow should line up with the outside of your nose. The highest point of your arch should be where the diagonal line extending from the outside of your nose to the outside of your pupil would hit. The outer edge of your brow should taper off at the point where your eyebrow and the diagonal line from your nose to the outside corner of your eye would intersect. The bottom of the inner and outer edges of your brow should line up horizontally. But before you get too comfortable in front of that magnifying mirror, we turned to LA-based freelance makeup artist, Afton Williams to make sure you have all the proper tools to achieve amazing arches…

Spoolie brush: The spoolie brush is really the unsung hero of beauty tools. It’s a must for separating eyelashes and removing mascara clumps, and you can also use it on your brows to brush the hair up and away.
Small scissors: After you’ve brushed all the hairs in one direction, snip any strands that are noticeably longer than others. And always cut across the top of the brow, never down. Anastasia Beverly Hills makes the perfect pair of scissors.
Brow pencil: Before you begin to pluck, give yourself a guide. Fill in your brows with a brow pencil, and pluck away only the strays. One of our fav pencils is the L’Oréal Brow Stylist Custom Brow Shaping Pencil.
Tweezers: The most important tool is, of course, a sharp pair of tweezers. Lancôme La Tweezer Précise will allow you to pluck with precision just like the pros.

While makeup and awesome clothes can make you feel more confident (a trait that, research suggests, can make you more desirable on its own), these nonphysical things can actually make you appear more attractive to others:

1. Surrounding yourself with friends. People tend to be rated as more attractive when they’re part of a group than when they’re alone, according to findings published in Psychological Science. It’s OK if big groups aren’t your thing — just being out and about with your best friend can do the trick.

2. Showcasing your strengths — especially the ones that benefit your peers, says Kevin Kniffin, postdoctoral research associate at Cornell University and author of three related studies published in a 2003 Evolution and Human Behavior paper. In one, members of a rowing team ranked each other’s talent and physical attractiveness, and strangers ranked just the teammates’ physical attractiveness. In teammates’ rankings of each other, the most talented were also seen as most attractive, regardless of their actual attractiveness as determined by the strangers. So, Ms. Mathematician, the next time you go to a friend’s massive birthday dinner, calculate how much everyone owes (in your head — booya!), and watch everyone swoon.

3. Pulling your weight. Whether that means suggesting date ideas or staying in to finish up your part of a group project, doing your share makes you a valuable social partner, which can make you seem Very Attractive, according to Kniffin. In fact, in the study noted above, rowers ranked team slackers as less attractive. And in another one of Kniffin’s studies, students in a six-week summer archaeology course ranked each other’s physical attractiveness on the first and last days of class. Students increased their scores for those ranked below average on the first day of class who worked hard throughout the course.

4. Being a night person. Studies show that bar patrons perceive others as more attractive toward the end of the night. Researchers say it’s because you don’t want to go home alone, and you don’t want to take someone home who’s not attractive, so your tastes naturally shift to accommodate the available options. (The researchers note that beer goggles may also play a role here, and recent studies confirm the obvious, in case you have any doubts.)

5. Cracking a joke. Creating humor is indicative of intelligence and creativity. From an evolutionary perspective, these are important traits for survival, and therefore, they make you more attractive to potential mates.

6. Laughing at a joke. Not surprisingly, research suggests that your ability to ROTFL makes you more attractive to he who cracked the joke.

Get Dry Shampoo NOW!! by The Glow

Dry shampoo is on most women’s list of product must-haves, and for good reason. Most of us are content enough knowing dry shampoo is there to help when our hair is greasy or when we just can’t be bothered to wash it, but that’s not all this wondrous product can be used for.

In fact, it’s a surprisingly helpful little guy. From covering dark roots to removing oil stains in carpets, it’s looking more and more like dry shampoo is the only household product we need in our lives.

Here are 13 insanely useful ways to make the most of your best friend, dry shampoo.

1. It adds grip to your bobby pins and hair clips.

Do your bobby pins tend to get loose when you create a fancy up-do? Simply spray some dry shampoo on the clips before pinning them in your hair.

2. It will keep your fringe from sticking to your forehead.

Want a fringe that looks like Zooey Deschanel’s? The secret is simple: Spray dry shampoo underneath your fringe, to stop it from sweating, sticking and separating.

3. It can act as a lightweight deodorant.

Dry shampoo can keep you fresh and, you guessed it, dry. For an alternative to deodorant, spray dry shampoo on the offending areas to stop sweat. This an ‘only in a bind’ solution, since it will leave a powdery residue on your clothes.

4. It can eliminate shoe odour.

If your favourite pair of winter boots need some fresh air, spray some dry shampoo inside and leave for 20 minutes.

5. It can beef up your brows

If your eyebrows are lacking the bushy brilliance that is so in right now, dry shampoo can help. Spray directly onto your fingers and rub into your brows to add thickness and keep hairs in place.

6. It will help hide dark roots on blondes.

Desperately need a hair appointment? Put it off by using dry shampoo to cover dark roots. The white powder gives the effect of lightening the regrowth.

7. It gets rid of oil stains.

If you’re faced with a stain on your clothing or carpet, spray dry shampoo on the area first. For clothes, follow this with soap and water. For carpet, leave the dry shampoo on for 20 minutes and then vacuum up the powder, once it’s done its absorbing work.

8. It works as a great fix for clammy hands.

If your hands get a little sweaty during the day, dry shampoo is the easiest fix as it will keep your hands cool and dry all day long.

9. It provides great grip for your hands.

Perfect for yoga class, bike riding or even rock climbing –  spray some dry shampoo on your hands before exercising for better grip.

10. It keeps your curls separate.

If your hair tends to clump together when you’re curling, use dry shampoo as a way to separate curls. Spray after you curl for a natural look.

11. It adds subtle highlights or lowlights.

Using a tinted dry shampoo will give your hair some natural-looking highlights or lowlights, depending on what you want. Just spray it where ever you desire a lighter look. This can also work with regular dry shampoo on darker hair.

12. It helps lock in hair when teasing.

If your up-do requires teasing or backcombing, use dry shampoo rather than hair spray to lock in your style. It’s less harsh, and won’t be as difficult to brush out.

13. It lets you rewind and start over.

Ever get halfway through curling your hair and realise you don’t have time to do the rest? Dry shampoo can return your hair to its natural state so you can start again. Spray dry shampoo on the curled areas, then brush your hair out while applying heat from the blowdryer. Voila, your hair is straight again.
