Hat-designer to the stars, Stephen Jones OBE, to adorn Emirates Marquee with display of iconic millinery
Emirates is pleased to announce that leading English milliner, Stephen Jones OBE, will be a special guest at its English themed Marquee for this year’s Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Stephen has designed for the Royal family, as well as for celebrities such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Kylie Minogue, Madonna, Dita Von Teese, Mick Jagger and Nicole Kidman.

He is considered one of the world's most radical and important milliners of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, having created hats for the catwalk shows of many leading couturiers and fashion designers, such as John Galliano at Dior and Vivienne Westwood.

Attending the Emirates Marquee on Derby Day, Emirates Melbourne Cup Day and Oaks Day, Stephen will be unveiling a show stopping display of iconic headwear from throughout his eclectic and distinguished career.
“I am really looking forward to coming back to Melbourne and being a part of all the excitement and glamour of the Melbourne Cup Carnival – Melbourne really is the place to be for all things racing and fashion,” said Stephen, “My selection of headwear, handpicked for display in the Emirates Marquee, really is a fun representation of some of my ultimate favourite hats, shipped over especially from my Millinery Salon in Covent Garden, London”.
Stephen will join other notable guests and VIPs in the English-themed Emirates Marquee, enjoying the racing and fashions from the birdcage’s most enviable spot.

Oversize Flowers Caulfield Hat of the Season

Yes, it is the hat that everyone is talking about Right NOW!

The big red floral hat worn by the gorgeous Nicole Walter.

This is the glaze and the 'glass look' most trained Milliners are wanting to know the secret of.  The hat is stunning paired with elegance of white, but it was a judges favourite and the untrained Anne Stevens of Cairns is the first to admit that she just loves the craft and coming up with ideas.  This ingenuity has everyone asking and fellow Milliners starring at the bloom in wonder.  Will this be a hit for the Spring Racing Carnival 2015?  It was sported at Dubai World Cup last year without the lustre of glaze by Luke Song Millinery of the USA where his hat not only finaled in 'Best Hat', but won 2014 Dubai World Cup couples competition.  Watch this space!

Matcho Suba Millinery Launch 2015

It was with great pleasure I was invite to Matcho Suba's Millinery Launch at Woolshed, Docklands in Melbourne.  Matcho is most well known in Australia for his time on Project Runway showing his modern take on couture and his amazing runway shows as a Designer.  Matcho's growth as an artist has evolved and now his Millinery shows great promise.  I loved his feel of ease with materials to sharply manipulate into a symmetrical masterpiece, or play with raw medium to distress and find beautiful placement to give an edge to headwear.  I think with the 3D hats and many new mediums coming along, I enjoy seeing artists play with the medium to really understand their aesthetic and personality.  I think the metallic leather range of Matcho Suba Millinery will be a strong trend for 2015 and I am not alone with Ted Baker stores featuring in their stores and available for purchase at Ted Baker.  For further details, Click Here.
