In Melbourne we know we have hit Autumn when the crisp mornings have mist in the air only to dissipate into glorious sunshine for the rest of the day. This means only one thing, ladies, get ready for the beautiful girls luncheon and change those summer bights to Autumn hues. The crowd was down from last year only because of the clash of events with LMFF starting during the week rather than on the Sunday. Double events for most of us those days, but concentrating on Racing Fashion we saw some tremendous millinery and fashions. Designers that were showcased were Aurelio Costarella, Ellery, Kate Sylvester, T.L. Wood, Artur Galan, Yeojin Bae, Jane Lamerton, Cue, Simona, Leona Woman, Basque, Dom Bagnato, Karen Millen, NF by Nicola Finetti, Tia Carrigan (Winner o the Myer Fashions on the Field Award) & Rebecca Share (Winner of the Fashions on te Field Millinery Award), Leona by Leona Edmiston, Jayson Brunsdon Black, Estelle, Wayne Cooper, Matthew Eager, Jayson Brundson, Hugo Boss, and (Pheeewww) Toni Maticevski.
What a wonderful line up of Myer and Australian designers. The only thing that was eclipsing the fashion was Danica Erard Millinery, with her new perspex collection soon to be unveiled. Danica played with perspex on Derby Day with loads of compliments and with Danica wearing her Blue Swallow and myself, the 'Couture for a Cause' the red ribbon perspex for Aids Awareness, Danica already has orders and planning a couture event with a leading Australian designer.
The room was delightfully decorated and instead of a goody bag, we had a gorgeous candle on the table, left for us. A fantastic day was had by all.
A big thank you to Janine Van Camp for her brilliant event that we look forward to twice a year and the VRC and Flemington.
