I really missed out on something not going to the AJC Derby in Sydney. I am a huge fan of Derby Day where everything is Black and White and Fabulous all over, but there was beautifully attired ladies and everyone sporting very individual looks bringing fresh ideas on what speaks to you about dressing beautifully at the races.
I was glad to see the age bracket looks to be spreading wide with more 40+ and fabulous ladies stepping on stage. I love that in Autumn/Winter many are incorporating hosiery into their racewear ensebles, and only a few not taking the weather into account.
Dare I say it, Jen Hawkins looked practically freezing, at one stage looking like she is hiding behind her clutch for warmth. I feel sorry for her as she looked so freezing. Stylist note for Jen, a great shrug or cape just for when she has to step on stage.
All the ladies who competed should give themselves a big pat on the back and everyone looked beautiful and confident. I cannot wait for Winter Carnival up on in Brisbane this year and there is so much to come with Racing Fashion right here.
Styling notes for competitors next time. Keep all white tones in the same hue. Never mix pristine white with beige. When mixing different textures, be careful that nothing gets too fussy. Loving to see ANISS millinery and Jane Stoddart lace milinery was the winning head wear on the day.
