This year more than ever, the Carnival Preview Day or formerly known as Underwood Stakes was more demure than previous years with fashion of high quality although not as many contestants in the open section. I totally agreed with the judges with results and this year more than ever, look to edit.
Shoes as always to be outstanding and well polished for gentlemen. Ladies be sure to wear a smaller spikier heel, although we love to give the illusion of height, it is coming down to normal. It does not matter how tall you look in the line up, it is all about your individual style and it is not a modelling competition.
As seen with the winners a simple statement is best and cloaks and capes this year are definitely out. The 2015 pantone colour palatte is more demure and muted. Jewel tones for the 40+, but still adore a lady 40+ that can make pastels work.
Underwood Stakes Day is now being poached to bring new people to the track although this was the smallest turnout in Fashions on the Field I have seen in years, so this was an easy card to the finals. Everyone looked amazing from Tot, Teenagers to Terrific 40 and Fabulous. The biggest disappointment was seeing the MC Sherri Lee Biggs lack of knowledge of Racing Attire and a flesh fest. This is not a prime example of how to dress at the track, but I think she may have been heading to a nightclub after the races.
Judges, MC, and staff on course should dress appropriately to lead by example.
