If there is one day I can recommend to you at Royal Ascot it has to be Thursday, Ladies Day. This is a day of glorious colour and happiness and with the sun shining everyone was in the mood for fun and festivities. Matilda, my affectionately named Pegilea statement Mohawk did seem to be a favourite of the people on track as well as the photographers. Although a little heavy to wear, she staying in place all day and I did not have to bring my hand to my head.
Ladies day is the day, that all ladies love to be noticed and we were watching everyone looking amazing and I was just snapping as much colour as I could because there is only a certain amount of time for socialising before you have to head to your dining area. On Thursday it was difficult to find a dining area so settled for the 'Furlong Club'. The Furlong Club with allot cheaper alternative to yesterday's Parade Ring. The food you have to pay for once you arrive in and it gives you allot more options with even Lobster and lovely sliders with fries. Drinks again you have to pay for yourself, but it is allot more relaxed atmosphere and people were fun and wanting to make friends. I find this a really happy spot for anyone wanting to enjoy Royal Ascot at a cheaper price.
One of my favourite days about Royal Ascot is that you seem to catch up with so many people you know from all over the world and just outside the Royal Enclosure sign it seems to be a strange Millinery meet up where you can imagine everyone is talking one hundred miles a minute. I had such a pleasure of meeting International friends as well as Monique Lee Hylands, co-curator of Xterrace 21st Century Hat Exhibition. Media was asking everyone for photos and everyone seemed so interested talking about hats, who made what, what looks fabulous and workshops etc that media seemed to be secondary. I was snapping like a woman possessed, but loved having my hat featured which did seem to go viral. Look really, we all love being snapped and it was a bit different as I am on the other side of the camera, but made me feel special that someone wanted to take my photo.
Before heading down to the Furlong Club I was getting ready to see the Royal Parade with Monique and husband and had a great chat about how well received the exhibition was. It was amazing that there is so much inspiration for hats and hat wearing. We are hoping to add a whole new level of hat lovers to our society. My Little Pony, (don't say I did not tell you) is taking off and there will be allot more famous faces wearing this trend. All hats and attire looked amazing and everyone was having such wonderful times frolicking in the Summer sunshine. I cannot thank enough the people who came up and chatted to me and introduced themselves. We must keep our hat wearing and love interest open to the public and others so it does not intimidate people to embrace the love of wearing such a fabulous accessory. I am so blessed that my husband encourages me to hop on a plane and head to UK, as I always want to back out at last minute and stay with my children. It is a world like no other, and there is no judgement criticism or prejudice put on each other, it is about EVERYONE feeling fabulous. Share the beauty of how you feel well attired and in a hat and share it with the world, you will be amazing how many people just want to feel beautiful and amazing with you, and you are beautiful every one of us in such beautiful unique ways. Being over 40 is just the beginning for ladies like us and our style becomes more rounded into how we want to present without outside media influences. We still have two days of Royal Ascot to go, so stay tuned.
