Melbourne Racing Club hosted again for 2014 another Members Millinery night. I swear that people should not have to pay to purchase a hat, but the Members rate was reasonable to cover costs and not charge a ridiculous amount for a couple of sandwiches and cup cakes.
The variety was extended this year from Master Milliners to more affordable pieces and all showed off the Milliners Individual Style.
Paris Kyne Pin and Win for Pancare allows us to purchase a pin for charity with the hope to win one of his stunning pieces. I must admit I purchased all his outstanding pieces from his collections and have the final secret piece that was worn to the Kangan Millinery Soiree.
These days I find allot of commercialisation in the trade and implore customers to get to know their Milliners and what will work for them. I did make a purchase on the night, but will remain a mystery until worn.
There were pieces by Piers Atkinson, but Serena Lindeman's pieces that have been inspired by Japan did take my eye. As usual Rebecca Share had glorious hats that were unique and for this season. Peter Jago is always a crowd favourite, a Millinery master and paid tribute to his mentor Jean Carol. Also Felicity Northeast with her winning style from Blue Diamond were a feature with Fresh Floral Headpieces on show adding to different ideas.
A lovely evening was had by all and some walking away with some fabulous hats.
