My favourite Autumn race day in Melbourne is always Super Saturday and we saw the champion ‘Black Caviar’, simply almost canter the straight home. The ‘Myer’ fashions on the field was a terrific competition going from a couples day to ladies racewear and genlemens.
The ladies all looked splendid and I am glad to say the lovely Josephine Juliano who is the right side of fabulous made the final 10. The competition was fierce and it was boiling. I had talked to Kim Fletcher and Kerrie Stanley a couple of days before the competition asking what they think of what to wear, knowing racing fashion inside out. I am pleased that so many ladies thanked me for the advice, but some fashionistas that should know better melted under felt cloches. I really did love the winning outfit of the come hither kitty cat, burlesque look. This is definitely the transition we are looking for with the ‘mad man’ 50s being thrown to the wind and ‘Boardwalk’, yet to air bringing on the new era.
Even if you are thinking and channeling the 50s, think more Betty Page than ‘Stepford’ petticoat. Seen it all before! It is like the Mackenzie dress that Kellie Odell won in a couple of years ago in Sydney then I am sure that was the look that everyone was sure they were going to win in.
Remember keep your own innovation in mind and the key is staying true to your own style. Congratulations to the winners, and I would like to announce a couple more residents of Annaland being Luke Dennehey, who does not write gossip, he is a ‘reporter’, and Kris Smith, Danni’s other half. Super Saturday will be aired on free to air community TV shortly
