Oh, what do I say about Cairns Armatures’? Well I could say allot of things but if you cannot say anything nice, you keep your mouth shut, although I will remark on the young members like Jaydee Paino, Emma Verri and the beautiful Liz Greatorex that really showed up their seniors as their manners to visitors and media were impeccable. I cannot say the same for the heads of the fashion department that referred to me and my team as just media. (So we did not matter) It is not the point that we are media or not, the fact is everyone should be treated well and as a guest to their track.
I have been asked to go to so many huge meetings around the world and I was totally astonished that these people were not welcoming to media.
Sandy, Christina and Grahame all took their time at the ball, before and after to make sure I had a great day. Which I always have a great day at the races, including my horse Danzylum paying 34-1 for 3rd. Happy Camper here!
I can say the fashion was outstandingly high standard. All contestants looked beyond beautiful and I encourage all the ladies to embrace Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne. Spring Racing Carnival in Melbourne has now made ‘Fashions on the Field’ all about the contestants as you are the stars! I would have loved if Auntie’s, mums and dads would have been allowed past the gate to see their loved ones on stage, they had to sit in bleachers in the sun. We have to embrace our competitors and I am still perplexed as to why Armatures’ seems to be a larger turnout than Cairns Cup. Myer ‘Fashions on the Field’ is one of the most elite converted titles you could ever ask to win. There is more $$$ worth of prizes and I was there from beginning to end to see all members of the club, myself and crew included, wiping tables, moving things and putting up signs. No one seemed to mind including myself. I am so sorry I did not make it right around the course to take photos of everybody on Amateurs day.
I really do love the company the Cairns community but certain snobbery is not restricted. I would love to thank the wonderful Neil Grigg, Anthony Capon for the wonderful judging as we know how difficult it is and I respect their decision as judges. Angela Menz and Blessing sitting with them, always a pleasure! It seems that the crew and I attracted the judges and their guests to sit with us and leave their table. Was it someone at their table????? I am not sure, hmmm. To the dear gentleman that gave me his seat that I was ejected from later, thank you again, I can only hope you followed my tip with Danzylum to win yourself a heap. Thank you to all for the lovely welcome. Ladies and gentlemen of Cairns, I am honoured and embracing life in Far North Queensland.
