Sydney, I love you all, but where were you??? There is something so special about ‘Mad about the Hat Day’ at Rosehill and that is a showcase of the finest millinery, design and couture. Some were right on target, but many were still behind the 8 ball so to speak. Racing Fashion is like any fashion and the time is not now to raid Grandmas closet, but to edit it.
Gone are the days of the doilies’ and 50s era, we have had allot of fun with it, but please let us go into the next era. Embrace your shape no matter what your shape. We have ‘Fashions on the Field’ embracing women all ages, sizes and shapes around Australia being asked to get up and have a go. This is a spectacular event where we saw the battle of the BOLDS. Colours that is; not competitors. As I mentioned it is the time to be fashionably friendly and sooner or later the mean girls will understand it is a competition for the best on the day. It is not Miss Universe, it is Fashions on the Field.
I had such fun talking to Petra Nolan who looked beautiful in a Vintage Cream 60s Shift inspired dress, but the judges loved the right now look, of Angela Menz and she nailed it. She does it so well, runner up in the Millinery (Kerrie Stanley Millinery Award, Milliner to the Stars), then took out the whole competition as NSW representative for Melbourne Cup Carnival. We wish her good luck, and if you don’t you are mean. It is up to the judges on the day to look at the outfit with fresh eyes. Ashleigh from Brow Babes in Cairns was a very close second wearing Amanda Macor’s signature ‘Bountiful Bows’. I am simply in love with this mix and match couture millinery.
Stephanie Martin, better known under her maiden name of Nasternack won the Kerrie Stanley (Milliner to the stars) millinery award and looked stunning. Stephanie and Troy Martin were in Sydney for a wedding when there was a run-away bride incident and won some beautiful millinery.
Thank you to the beautiful Lisa Wellings for giving a well practiced speech only to realize her prompt was not listening. (This was special and made it so personable) We loved your eloquent speech, understanding and advise for the NSW representative this year. Lisa we love you, although hormonal when pregnant I thought you may steal my husband! He he. I am blessed to know you all and I wish Angela Menz the best of luck for the Melbourne Cup Carnival, ‘Myer Fashions on the Field’.
