What a fantastic day we had for Guineas. There were a record amount of fashion on the field entrants for Caulfield and I must say everyone was of such a wonderful high standard. The catwalk at Caulfield always seems to attract some colour and everyone loving beige, black and white, but with the latest colour blocking craze it was a myriad of all spectrum's. Brilliant I say! There are an increasing amount of young milliners competing and I cannot tell you how competitive fashions on the field at Caulfield has become. Many ladies had traveled from all over the country, especially for the 40+ entrant. This is a fantastic age bracket where ladies the right side of fabulous can compete and look fabulous. Remember it is hard to judge, and I did not always agree with the judges choices but they have chosen something for a reason. I will be sitting on the panel of judges for Caulfield Cup and I want to see hosiery, great heels that you can walk in, seams and hems stitched beautifully and made for you as well as millinery that enhances your natural beauty. Also make sure you go to see someone about taking things in and tailoring. Biggest no no with myself and Peter Jago when we spoke last week is hair OUT! EEEWWW! You are wearing beautiful millinery ladies, your hair if not short must be pulled back off your face and so we can see your neck. First and foremost be confident and happy, you can see when someone is not happy or nervous. No one is going to shoot you up there and really who cares, it should all be fun. If you are not having fun or going in fashions on the field, desperately to win, Don't do it, there are only a few happy entrants each year and they are the winners. Be happy to be in a wonderful garment and feel fabulous about yourselves, that is why we are all there to see you. If there was no you, there would be no site, there would be no TV show. It's all about you. Enjoy!
