With Myer taking over another 5 years of Fashions on the Field, we could not wait to have a photographer attend to snap the fabulous fashions in Sydney leading to Melbourne Cup Carnival. The trends of 50s mad men era has definitely been given a wide berth although we all love a classic. The silhouette is tailored and sleek. The fantastic trend in this season is that we have the peplum, so if our figures are more bountiful than others we can hide our plentiful curved with a peplum.
Colours and prints are right now, but as I say, be careful of the print that it is not cheap as you will see it everywhere and not look so individual. Best be it to search online for vintage fabrics and go to a great dress maker.
Headwear and Hats are in new emerging shapes with Milliners having to really put themselves out of their routine blocking and make new shapes. Again the materials are changing, and although you all know I am not a huge perspex fan due to the weight and the longevity of the hat as it will be diminishing.
Kelli Odell took out the NSW title and it is on everyone’s lips, “Is this going to be her year?”. Louise Struber the stunner from Far North Queensland is coming for a 2nd time after runner up 2 years ago tried her fashion luck and why not. Following with Natasha Kent is a classic navy ensemble.
We cannot wait to see you in Melbourne Kelli and we love watching you on stage. Dare I say that 3 contenders are in Caulfield Final and Myer Fashions on the Field Final. Could it be a double for one of them?? This sort of Fashion on the Field win could be bigger that Bart Cummings or Gai Waterhouse winning both Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup. It is stuff dreams are made of, dare we dream that big.. Hmmm, Sweet Dreams.
